Must-Have (Non-Negotiable)
Education: B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science, IT, or Information Security
Programming: Strong proficiency in C/C++ (you should be comfortable reading and writing low-level code)
Linux: Solid understanding of Linux internals, command line, and system administration
Networking: Fundamentals of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and network protocols
Scripting: Basic Python scripting ability
Mindset: Genuine curiosity about "how things break" — you should enjoy taking systems apart to understand them
Good-to-Have (Strong Plus)
CTF participation: Experience with HackTheBox, TryHackMe, PicoCTF, or similar platforms
Security tools: Familiarity with Wireshark, Nmap, Burp Suite, or Metasploit
Bug bounty: Any bug bounty submissions (even unsuccessful ones show initiative)
CVE knowledge: Basic understanding of CVE/CVSS scoring systems
Reverse engineering: Have attempted cracking simple CrackMe challenges or binary analysis
GitHub presence: Personal security projects, contributions to open-source security tools
